What is the Most Expensive Hotel in Seattle?

October 26th, 2011 — 8:46am

Recently, a friend was looking for a one-night getaway for he and his wife, and he asked me “What is the most expensive hotel in Seattle?” Since I live in the Seattle area, I had a few guesses: The W, the Alexis, the Fairmont, the Edgewater… Seattle has had a burst of luxury hotels in the last five years or so, and the hotel landscape has changed quite a lot. After doing some research, I had the answer, and I was surprised at both the winner and the actual cost.

Most Expensive Hotel in Seattle: Four Seasons

The most expensive nightly hotel rate in Seattle is at the Four Seasons Presidential Suite, at $5,000+ per night. What do you get in the Presidential Suite? At 2,480 sq ft and only one bedroom, you’ll have plenty of room to stretch out, and the bathroom is like your own personal spa with a deep soaking tub and a glass-enclosed rain shower.

Later when your friends come over you’ll have room to play with your own game room, spacious dining room and a large contemporary living room and lounge. Unfortunately you’ll have to share the pool area with the other well-heeled guests, but you’ll be fine relaxing at the roof top fire pit, infinity pool and the amazing views of Elliot Bay and Puget Sound.

Most Expensive Hotel in Seattle: Hotel 1000

A close second to the Four Seasons President Suite is the Grand Suite at the Hotel 1000. At a shade under $5,000 per night, the price is high enough to keep the riff-raff out, and at 2,000 sq ft if they somehow get in you can hide from them anyway. Guests can take advantage of the media room (with a 60-inch plasma TV), personal dining room for eight, and the suite can even be outfitted with custom artwork that suits a guest’s style.

This is a classy suite – good enough for such notable guests as David and Victoria Beckham, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Stuart Townshend.

If you’re looking for a real treat, the kind that most of us only dream of, you can’t go wrong with either of these hotels. As the two most expensive hotel rooms in all of Seattle, Four Seasons Seattle and Hotel 1000 are incredible and the service and the rooms themselves are truly world class.

More information: Rooms at Four Seasons Seattle start at $265, with suites starting at $655. Call 1 (206) 749-7000 or www.fourseasons.com/seattle/

Rooms at Hotel 1000 start at $249, with suites starting at $399. Call 1(206) 957-1000 or www.hotel1000seattle.com

Non-Smoking Non-Gaming Las Vegas Hotels

Non-smoking non-gaming Las Vegas hotels

Yeah, I was surprised to hear about it myself, too. The new Vdara Hotel and Spa in Las Vegas is on The Strip in the new City Center Plaza, and it’s a completely non-smoking and non-gaming hotel! I love Vegas (which is a little strange for a non-gambler), but the thing I hate the most is the cigarette smoke. To actually have a hotel that is completely non-smoking and conveniently located is awesome.

Next trip, I’ll definitely take a look at Vdara. Have any of you, my wonderful readers, every stayed at Vdara? Opinions? It looks to be a little expensive, but I think it might be worth it!
