I don’t like to be paranoid. Really, I don’t. But the thought that someone could hang out at an airport with a laptop and harvest my ID and personal information from my passport and credit cards bothers me. So… there’s an easy fix – shield all your private data. Put your credit cards in a metal wallet like this one and you’re safe.

If you are anything like me, and I know you are, I need coffee in the morning. I really NEED it. And I hate weak, tasteless coffee. So if all I need is the Handpresso to make my own espresso anywhere that I can heat water, I’m in business. Whip out a few shots of strong espresso in the hotel room instead of that awful teabag coffee you get in most hotels, and the world is mine. Or better yet, espresso for everyone at the campsite on a cool morning… You get the idea. What a brilliant idea!

If you’re either taking of bottle of wine or liquor on vacation or bringing one back, a set of Bottle Armor packs will be invaluable. The padded bottle shaped packages help to prevent breakage in checked luggage, and have two extra-strength zip-top seals to contain leakage if breakage does occur. They fit wine, spirits, olive oil, or any other bottled liquid!

Swiss Army, the makers of the famous pocketknives, now make a pocket tool that is FAA approved! It’s more of a grooming kit than anything, but it does have a nail clipper, nail file, nail cleaner, micro-screwdriver, scissors, toothpick, tweezers and key ring. I’ve been on several trips where I really wish I had one of these – and it’s only $15!

This new Hotels.com promotion definitely caught my eye: Save up to 40% and get a free Flip Camcorder at select hotels! I found some hotels for as cheap as $27/night, and there may be some that are cheaper. Then throw in the free Flip, and you’ve got the makings of an amazing deal!
I’ve used a Flip for about a year for family videos, and it works great. It’s about the size of a cellphone, so it easily slips in your pocket, and starts up quickly and easily for great on-the-spot videos. Plus the video quality itself is great. I highly recommend the Flip! Get it for free while on vacation, and wow!

At first blush, a pre-printed packing list seems pretty silly. Like I need to check off a box to know that I packed my toothbrush? But the more I think about it, the more I’d like to use one of these. I always stress about packing, and it’s only gotten worse with kids in the picture. But for $5 you get a notepad with 60 checklists, and all that stress is gone (pretty much). That seems like $5 well spent to me!

What makes the Inka Travel pen so much better than regular pens? First of all, the ink cartridge is pressurized, so it will write at any altitude and at any angle, even under water! Secondly, the pen also has a stylus for use with a PDA. But the main thing is that the pen attaches to your key ring, so it’s always with you. It detaches quickly for use as a mini pen or full-size pen, and when closed it’s barely bigger than a key. Perfect for traveling!
